Global Medical Expert Coming to Town
Over two years ago Andrew Sargisson joined the global med-tech team at Sumitomo (SHI) Demag. A genuine master of all-electric machinery, this month the Regional Sales Director – Medical will be sharing his cleanroom, GMP-certification and document qualification wisdom at Medical Technology Ireland in the German Pavilion, Booth 216. This will be swiftly followed by a trip to Interplas, Hall 4, Stand C40.
Having announced the opening of the company’s Irish division in May 2023, Sargisson is eager to meet with customers seeking GMP Annex 1 and medical machine validation support across Ireland. A verified expert in these topics, he alludes to the market potential in MedTech, Life Sciences and Biotech in Ireland, commenting: “Last year, Ireland accounted for more than 50 percent of new UK Sumitomo (SHI) Demag machinery sales, many to MedTech firms. In part this is testament to the company’s already sizeable customer base.” With a physical presence in Ireland, the team regularly calls upon the medical expert’s respected market- focused intel, technology innovations, automation and medical machine validation support.
As soon as the doors close in Galway, Sargisson will head to the NEC in Birmingham, joining the UK team to mark Interplas 75. Whilst there, he will share his practical tips on how to avoid over-committing to a cleanroom classification that could leave medical manufacturers exposed to unwarranted compliance requirements. “Out of regulatory fear, people can sometimes submit a user requirement specification (URS) request for a cleanroom solution that is superfluous for the medical component being made,” he cautions. Also attending both events will be Dave Raine, Sumitomo (SHI) Demag UK Director. Having re-joined SDUK in late 2022, MedTech Galway will be the first in a series of events Dave is attending in the coming weeks. He comments: “MedTech, Interplays and Fakuma is going to be a challenging schedule for us, but I’m really excited about speaking to existing and potential customers and sharing our experience and knowledge with the industry.”
